Cosmetics from the kitchen: make your own masks, scrubs and lip balm

Natural beauty!
Have a beauty day and draw on the forces of nature. You’ll be amazed at all the beautifiers you’ll find just in your kitchen cupboard.

Natural freshness on the inside and outside

Our daily diet contains many natural beautifiers: fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products and honey are not only a tasty treat, they are also great for your skin.

Make your own masks, scrubs and lip balm

Used as a moisturising mask or scrub, natural beautifiers such as yoghurt give you a healthy appearance in harmony with nature.

Important: always test out a home-made mask on an inconspicuous area of the body before applying it to your face. You may suffer an allergic reaction to one of the foods, so it’s best to avoid that reaction all over your face.

Do-it-yourself cosmetics: stir, mix, experiment!

Make your own face mask, scrub or lip balm: everything you need for a natural beauty treatment can be found in your own kitchen. Decide for yourself which beneficial active ingredients and foods you want to treat your skin to.

Luscious and healthy

Thanks to its natural exfoliating effect, malic acid breaks down cornifications and promotes the cells’ metabolism.

Eye-catching: a great looking upper chest area

A honey and apple compress for a bewitching upper chest area: coat the skin with honey and put slices of green apple on top. Leave the treatment to work for around fifteen minutes. The malic acid works like a natural scrub, and the honey has an antibacterial effect – both help to dry out little spots and prevent blemished skin.

Inspired by nature: gentle scrub

Marigold is well-known for its antibacterial effect and cleansing power. A scrub made from almonds, yoghurt, honey and marigold extract will restore your skin’s balance. Dead skin cells will be removed and your skin will feel soft and smooth. Mix the ingredients into a paste and apply the mixture generously to your face. Massage and rub in the scrub a little and then leave it to work for ten minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

  • 2 tbsp. natural yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp. ground almonds
  • 1 tsp. marigold extract
  • 1 tsp. honey

Natural make-up remover

A natural alternative for facial cleansing consists of a little milk and a splash of fresh lemon juice: apply the mixture with a cotton pad and thoroughly cleanse your face of dirt and make-up. Important: avoid the eye area and pamper your skin with some face cream after cleansing.

Seductive. Make your own lip balm

It’s really easy to make your own gentle balm for your lips. Natural oils and honey will make your lips velvety soft. Put it in pretty little tins to make an ideal gift for your best friend.

Here’s how to do it: preparation

If you want to make your own lip balm, put 10g of jojoba oil and 10g of almond oil in a porcelain bowl and then add 10g of beeswax. Slowly heat it all up in a water bath until all the ingredients have melted, creating a clear mixture. Next, work in a teaspoon of honey and stir well. If the honey does not blend into the other mixture very well, melt and stir all of it again. Pour the warm lip balm into several small tins and allow it to cool down.

Beautiful lips, perfect for kissing

Essential oils such as vanilla and lavender contain the characteristic fragrance of the plants from which they are derived. With a few drops of oil, you can complement your home-made lip balm with your own unique touch.
